CCI - Bundling Edits

This screen displays the Medicare Correct Coding Initiative unbundling edits for CPT codes.

The Edit Check feature enables you to enter multiple CPT codes to check for any bundling issues.  It also ranks them in order of Relative Value.  If you have a CPT of HCPC code selected from another screen it will have that code entered in the first box and will show the description and RVU values for that code.  The check additional codes, simply  enter them into the boxes and click the "Check" button.

If you seek additional information, we provide you with the Component Codes, Mutually Exclusive, and Major PX tabs along with the Documents tab, which displays the notes for each chapter of the CCI edits manual.  The Component Codes tab displays those codes that are components of the search code (comprehensive procedure code).  The Mutually Exclusive tab displays those codes that cannot be performed during the same operative session.  The codes displayed on the Comprehensive and Mutually Exclusive tabs are those that should not be used with the original search code.  The codes displayed on the Major PX Codes tab are those codes for which the search code is a component of and should not be separately billed.  The reason for each edit is displayed next to the code, along with the effective date, and termination date if the edit has been deleted, and the applicability of modifier usage.

To perform a search, enter the desired search code in the search box and press enter/click search.  If an exact code is searched, the results for that code will then be displayed in the Comprehensive and Mutually Exclusive  and Major PX Codes tabs to the right.  If a partial code search is performed, all applicable results will be displayed in the search result field.  Selecting a code from the search result field will populate the Component Codes,  Mutually Exclusive, and Major PX Codes tabs.  To view the notes, click on the notes tab.  A listing of documents will appear.  Click on the desired document to view the notes within the document.
