Celebrating 10 years of Intelicode!

Who: Intelicode Users and other E&M Coding Professionals.

What: Mastering auditing for physician services to help participants enhance their understanding and confidence in auditing. The day will wrap up with an Intelicode panel presentation to demonstrate features, answer questions, and encourage feedback.

9:00 - 10:30   Session 1 - Hands on auditing with 3 experts - Look at specific examples of office consultations covering issues associated with levels of service and type of service including examples of common issues.

10:30 - 10:45  Break

10:45 - 12:15   Session 2 - Hands on auditing analysis with 3 experts – Look at specific examples of office consultations covering issues associated with levels of service and type of service including examples of common issues. Discussion on medical necessity will follow.

12:15 - 1:00     Lunch

1. Joan Gilhooly – Coding and Auditing for Inpatient Physician Services - In this session we'll cover the unique (and often misunderstood) coding and documentation rules for Initial Inpatient/Initial Observation Care, Same Day Admit/Discharge, Hospital Consultation Services, Issues with Subsequent Hospital Care Coding, Discharge day services and Critical Care. The session will also include tips for educating physicians regarding these services to increase their coding and documentation compliance.

2. Kim Huey – Auditing for Non-physician Practitioner Services - will discuss incident-to, shared, and independent billing by nurse practitioners, physician's assistants, certified nurse specialists, and certified nurse midwives. The session will include auditing tips and hands-on auditing of actual non-physician practitioner documentation.

3. Jan Rasmussen – Preventative Medicine - We will look at the problem areas when a patient is seen for both a problem oriented visit and a preventive visit on the same date of service. There will be actual notes reviewed and tips given for documenting and auditing these types of encounters.
